BROAD PURPOSE: Develop a balanced program of mission, growth, discipleship, worship, and leadership development for students in grades 5-12, with a focus on grades 7-8. Participate in worship, teaching, mission, development, and_noemailmunication for youth and their families.
REPORTS TO: Associate Pastor for Family Life
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years experience with youth ministry (paid or volunteer)
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Administer and direct weekly youth group meetings and events (school year and summer)
Teach Middle School Sunday morning classes as directed by supervisor.
Provide nurture, support, and counsel to youth.
Communicate regularly and clearly with staff, parents, and families.
Recruit, develop, and nurture a leadership team consisting of youth as well as adult volunteers to assist with meetings and events.
Provide discipleship and education support for middle/high school students.
Assist with the_noemailanizing and leading of mission trips, retreats, events, and opportunities for service.
Attend monthly Youth Ministries_noemailmittee meetings, and participate in developing a strategy to build sustainable youth programs including appropriate transition programs from Shine to middle school to senior high to college.
Assist in youth ministries budgeting process.
Provide regular outreach events to bring in new youth group members.
Take an active involvement in local Youth Directors_noemailwork – e.g. First Priority.
Attend staff meetings.
Attend conferences for professional growth.
Utilize appropriate social media programs to engage and inform participants, and extend the reach of our youth programs.
Participate in worship as requested.
Provide other services as directed by the supervisor
