St John Baptist Church, located in Columbia, MD, is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our church team. St John Baptist Church is a spirit filled_noemailanization that is on the move.
The Administrative Assistant is the front-line representative of the church in relation to visitors and church members. This position requires strong oral and written_noemailmunication skills, efficient calendar management, expertise in developing graphical presentations and meeting and event planning. Flexibility and ability to multi-task is essential; must have poise in_noemailmunicating internally with the pastors, operations manager, trustees and deacons and externally with church members, volunteers and visitors, both on the telephone and in person. Dependability and reliability are a must! If you have attendance issues, lack the ability to think on your feet, or require constant supervision you need not apply.
Typical job duties include:
* Greeting members and visitors
* Answering the general phone lines and directing calls as needed
* Screening emails
* Receiving and distributing mail
* Drafting letters and any other required correspondence
* Computerizing all key official church documents and setting up tickler
file for periodic reviews and updates
* Scheduling and coordinating ministry meetings and events held at the
* Preparing weekly church bulletin
* Preparing and maintaining the weekly display of events in a PowerPoint
* Scheduling Appointments
* Maintaining multiple church calendars including the Senior Pastor's
* Coordinating office operations including ordering office supplies,
maintaining filing systems and finding ways to help the office run more
* Maintaining information boards and bulletin boards ensuring all
information is current
The selected candidate will preferably have a college degree (or have_noemailpleted some college course work) plus outstanding verbal and written_noemailmunication skills, a keen eye for detail, superb_noemailanizational skills and the ability to work independently. Excellent_noemailputer skills, Proficiency with MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and is Inte_noemail savvy. Professional phone manner, good judgment, self-directed with the ability to work independently toward objectives with a sense of urgency is required.
Must be an energetic and flexible person who brings a high degree of_noemailmitment and a "can do" attitude to the team. Must possess a strong desire to be part of a spirit filled team.
Relevant Work Experience – Minimum of 4 to 5 years as an administrative assistant, preferably in a busy work environment
Education Level – Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required
Compensation – Minimum starting salary of $35,000 + with offer based on experience and education
