Worship Pastor Job Description

Lead the congregation to worship God through current (Christian rock) music and other creative elements.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead our worship band
- Be the primary vocal leader
- Lead the band to pursue excellence
- Recruit and develop new talent for the band
-Lead spiritually (both on and off the stage)

Plan all elements of the weekly worship services
- Select songs (The latest rock style worship... ie, Hillsong, Jesus Culture, Elevation Chruch, etc...)
- Schedule band members and tech team
- Lead Weekly band rehearsal
- Program lighting
- Program pro-presenter

Oversee tech team
- Recruit, train and schedule volunteers to run sound, lighting, presentation software
(pro presenter), and video camera

Manage technical resources
- Manage worship budget
- Keep everything on stage and in the sound booth running right
- Purchase new equipment when necessary.
- Troubleshoot technical problems

Design and construct stage set designs
- Five or six set changes per year... some are themed with the series, some are more generic.
- Overall design includes lighting.

Work closely with the senior pastor to...
- Plan message series (titles, graphics, stage set themes and other creative elements)
- Plan all creative elements of worship services

Be a team player
- Be willing to work with the entire staff for the overall purpose of fulfilling our vision to...
"Connect the disconnected and grow towards full maturity in Christ."

Skills that will be needed:
- Strong vocals
- Proficient guitar player
- Broad knowledge of audio systems (sound board, speakers, signal flow, etc..)
- Broad knowledge of instrumentation and arrangement
- Proficient in Pro Tools and/ or Logic
- Ability to lead people (20 30 volunteers)

- Graphic design
- Video editing

About New Community...

New Community is growing church located in Muskogee, Ok., a town of about 40k people. We are about 45 minutes southeast of Tulsa. Muskogee is a blue-collar town and although New Community is a progressive church in terms of our style, we have a distinct personality that seeks to fit our culture. Potential candidates need to feel_noemailfortable in a smaller town and be able to relate to rural American culture.

We currently have two Sunday morning services, 9:30 and 11:00. We have an average weekend attendance of 450.
