Worship Leader Job - United Methodist, Pineville, North Carolina

Description: The Journey Worship Leader will have direct responsibility to equip and lead musicians and vocalists in the non-traditional, multi-ethnic, weekly worship service. The Worship Leader will work with pastors and a creative worship design/planning team weekly to create a dynamic and seamless service that encourages worshipers to enter into the presence of God in an atmosphere of fellowship and spiritual growth, while learning Biblical truths and life applications of those truths. This service will incorporate the arts, when appropriate, including drama, dance and other visual arts, as well as other non-traditional elements that enhance the Biblical message in a contemporary worship venue.

The Worship Leader plays a crucial role in connecting the congregation to the message through music, Word, fellowship and the sacraments. This involves much more than just making smooth transitions between songs, prayers and other elements—it requires being in tune to the mood and attitude that is present among the worshipers and then being able to facilitate movement toward awareness of God's presence and then motivate a posture of appropriate response.

The successful candidate will work well on a team, possess excellent leadership and_noemailmunication skills as well as skills and knowledge of audio visual tools used in multi-media worship services. He/She will be adept at detailed planning and preparation, but also flexibility in order to make necessary adjustments in the midst of worship. As part of the worship design team, he/she will_noemailbine technical skills with artistic vision and encourage the team to think "outside the box" when needed.
