Our church: Established in 2002, Vine of the Mountains is in Waynesville, North Carolina, a small town (approx. 10,000 within city limits) located 25 miles west of Asheville in the Great Smoky Mountains. Also known as "The Vine," we are an interdenominational church founded on classical Christian theology from the Wesleyan Anglican tradition, but with a focus on forming Christian_noemailmunity among believers with a variety of backgrounds. Attendance for 2016 is currently averaging 135-145 per Sunday. Our worship style is aptly described as contemporary with a semi-liturgical character. Our vision is a church_noemailmunity of disciples who courageously and_noemailpassionately express the saving love of Jesus to everyone they meet-without_noemailpromising biblical orthodoxy.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for working with and supporting the senior pastor and coordinating youth activities in order to promote and sustain the mission of the church.
Essential Job Functions
Responsible for all youth (grades 7-12) activities and delegates appropriately when necessary.
Maintains regular contact with parents of the youth to ensure dissemination of information and garner support of youth activities.
Develops and leads a consistent team of adult counselors who support and nurture youth.
Engages with students where possible to cultivate relationships with church and_noemailmunity youth.
Plans and leads weekly youth fellowship meetings and assists with weekly worship planning.
Plans, studies, and delivers messages to facilitate meaningful worship several times a quarter.
Assumes the duties of the senior pastor in the event of his absence.
Provides_noemailpetent,_noemailpassionate, and ethically sound pastoral care by contacting members who are physically, spiritually, or emotionally unwell and visiting upon request.
Stays abreast of current local, national, and international events that affect congregation and Christian principals.
Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by appropriate use of church funds appropriated by the board of elders.
Participates in educational opportunities supported by the church and self-development activities to promote professional development.
Completes special projects as required.

Demonstrates familiarity with and upholds formal and material theological principals for the interpretation of scripture.
Uses independent judgment and decision-making to_noemailanize work and establish priorities.
Assists with public information outreach and awareness to promote church events.
