The pastor needs to have strong Biblical knowledge and deliver sermons from a Biblical perspective. Other than worship, we are looking for the pastor to be an active participant and hopeful leader in the Christian Education program. Community involvement is also crucial, as we feel the pastor along with church members are joint "faces of the church", getting the word out about our church and encouraging attendance.
The pastor will also be involved in the life of the church, attending/supporting/promoting as many programs (social, educational,_noemailmunity outreach,multi-church etc.) as possible. The pastor will also moderate Session meetings and attend other_noemailmittee meetings as needed.
Support of church members is also important. This would include visitation to homebound/hospitalized members, weddings, funerals, counseling meetings as requested by members, etc.
We envision the pastor being head of staff in the future, although current staff is church administrator, custodians, senior center director and a part time music director (who is also a church member). Full time music director would be a priority after pastor is in place.
The called pastor will need spiritual maturity, and be able to provide direction, guidance and hope. They will help motivate us to merge the old with the new and aid in providing new opportunities and tools to grow. The pastor will help inspire us to actively participate in existing and new missions and expand the Church's outreach within the_noemailmunity.
Our membership is about 120, with 75-80 average worship attendance. Our congregation trends older (majority over 55), so we would like to reach out to the younger generation.
We provide many outreach programs, including community meals twice a month, clothes closet, financial community assistance, packing weekend food for students, summer lunch program for students, etc.
We are looking to grow in numbers as well as spiritually. We are in need of renewal and are open to changes in worship style, programs, leadership, etc.
