Job Description:

Do you enjoy collaborative creative work?
Do you excel in interpersonal connection and relationship building?
Do you take God seriously and yourself not-so-seriously?
Can you confidently and successfully plan worship services – and lead worship – in a church that includes people who are skeptical about faith, longtime believers...and everywhere in between?
About the Role:
The Assistant Director of Worship & Arts will wear a number of largely interrelated hats given our context. There are several teams housed within our Worship & Arts ministry, including Musicians, Audio/Video Tech, Aesthetic/Graphic Arts, Intercessors, and even a small group of Sunday morning ‘Handlers'. Additionally, there are other needs within Worship Arts not limited to a specific team; think tasks (administrative and otherwise) associated with Communion, Baptism, music development and production, volunteer development and care, and of course Sunday worship leadership. This person will have a hand in many of these teams, and be assigned certain areas of direct oversight.

He/She will primarily work with our Worship Arts Director in planning and leading Sunday worship services. They will also assist in shepherding the teams falling under the purview of Worship Arts –

Obviously, this role will require someone who has a positive disposition and high level of adaptability, as he/she will be serving multiple constituents, and specific needs do change regularly. We are looking for a healthy mix of executing strengths (i.e. "I love to get things done"), relational intelligence (i.e. "I love interacting with people and helping them feel valued") and spiritual inclusivity (i.e. "I want to help all kinds of people approach God's throne of grace").

The actual bullet points for this role are:
(1) Planning and cultivating of worship environment, alongside Matt Glass: We want our worship services to be God-honoring and meaningful to the cautious, curious, and committed. This person would work in tandem with Matt Glass to create a worship atmosphere that honors that aim.
(2) Leading worship in a corporate setting: This person must be equipped and willing to lead our Sunday morning worship team through music on a part time basis (starting with 25% and slowly increasing to 50% of Sundays). Our goal would be to create a shared leadership model to protect our congregation from the "cult of personality." (find more under Qualifications)

About Lake Forest Church:

Lake Forest Church is a vibrant, growing, 20-year-old church of 2,000-2,500 people, offering nine worship opportunities across four campuses in the North Charlotte/Lake Norman area of North Carolina.

Started in 1998, LFC is a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). The laser beam vision of LFC is reaching people who have ‘given up on church but not on God' through a clear and engaging focus on Jesus, spiritual growth in small groups and intentional deployment outward in mission.

Lake Forest Church Davidson (LFCD) began on August 21, 2011 thanks to the visionary leadership of Lake Forest Church and the sacrificial commitment of a 50-person Launch Team. LFCD is part of the larger Lake Forest Church, with each worshiping community having a high degree of autonomy. LFCD cultivates a "big tent" vibe, where Davidson-area spiritual explorers and skeptics and followers of Jesus come together to grow in their love of God and other people.

Job Qualifications:

(3) Recruiting and caring for new and current musicians: We want our Assistant Director of Worship Arts to play a highly relational role when it comes to our current and potential team members. This looks like intentional relationship building both within and outside our church body.
(4) Maintaining ownership over areas of responsibility: Our Assistant Director of Worship Arts must be consistently reliable in their areas of direct responsibility. This looks like keeping up with team members, staying on top of deadlines/communications, and initiating necessary changes as needed.
(5) Dependability and willingness to follow through: Overall, this person must be highly dependable and self-sufficient. When given a project or leadership role, this person can be counted on to complete the task before them with excellence.
