Purpose of Position: The role of the Associate Pastor is to support the Lead Pastor in the mission and vision of Maple Grove Community Church. The Associate Pastor will provide aid to the Lead Pastor by promoting the spiritual growth of the church by sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.
Position Accountabilities:
1. Administration: The Associate Pastor will assist the Lead Pastor with church administration duties as evidenced by:
- Minimum number of weekly office hours scheduled and posted
- Attend church board and council meetings as scheduled
- Assist church board, commissions and ministries
- Attend commission and ministry meetings as needed
- Assist and guide church groups such as Sunday School teachers, youth, men's and women's
ministries etc.
- Collaborate with the church board and Lead Pastor to evaluate the church's growth, spiritual
needs and future direction
2. Evaluation and Compensation: The Ministerial Commission in conjunction with the Lead Pastor will complete an annual Associate Pastor evaluation where contract and salary negotiations will be evaluated.
3. Pastoral Leadership and Care: The Associate Pastor will collaborate with the Lead
Pastor to oversee the needs of the congregation as evidenced by:
- Visiting with church members, sick, hospitalized, shut-ins, the unchurched and those in crisis as
needed
- Counsel and or refer those seeking help without seeking reimbursement
- Available and accessible for emergency situations
4. Teaching and Worship Services: The Associate Pastor will be available for Sunday morning services as needed. The Associate Pastor also will provide support in planning and executing other educational programs in discipleship and ministry training, focusing on their own spiritual gifts by:
- Available to lead Sunday morning services as needed
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to create meaningful educational and worship opportunities for
the congregation
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and participate in special services such as Love Feast, Bread
and Cup Communion, anointing, baptisms, parent child dedications, funerals and weddings
- Willingness to be mentored by the Lead Pastor
