Job Description:
The Oakton UMC Children and Family Ministry Coordinator is a vital part of worship and our overall mission; this role is also essential to the long-term health of the church for an active, robust congregation.
The Children and Family Ministry Coordinator is focused on bringing families into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ by providing fun and faith growing opportunities for all. This position works under the direction of the OUMC Pastor to develop,_noemailmunicate and implement family discipleship opportunities. This person will be responsible for the coordination, development and implementation of faith growing opportunities for children and students. This will include programs, events and outreach to attract youth and family within the_noemailmunity, as well as mission opportunities, with the purpose of growing the local church and making an impact in the_noemailmunity.

About Oakton United Methodist Church:
Oakton UMC is approaching its 125th anniversary. Established in 1898 this church has been a presence in the Oakton community throughout its life. As with any church, OUMC has gone through various transitions and is now in a season where growth and revival are the goal and focus. OUMC is growing in a time where not all churches are and strives to be a vital presence in the current community. We have members of all ages. From those who were baptized here 94 years ago to the youngest members who were born in the pandemic. OUMC also has a preschool (Oakton Christian Preschool) which continues to grow and thrive.
Qualifications:
Proven success in leading children in education and activities
Knowledge of and connection to the Northern Virginia community
A broad understanding of Christian principles for researching and planning program curriculum; understanding and clarity of UMC values
Strong organizational skills
Ability to lead a team
Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability.
Creative thinking and planning to align with interests of a diverse congregation
Ability to manage a budget
Knowledge of and connection to the Northern Virginia community
