Job Description:
Oversee all children's ministry and education areas from birth through fifth grade. The Children's Pastor will partner with the executive pastor in his vision for developing children as disciples of Christ through the church's children's ministry areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Abilities: Able to teach children's lessons and lead and inspire volunteer teams.
Character: A stable, maturing believer in Jesus Christ, whose life evidences Christian character, devotion to the Lord, and walking under the control of the Spirit. Responsible, dependable, and able to keep confidences. Meets the requirements set forth by Paul in 1 Timothy 3.
Spiritual Growth: Committed to spiritual growth through prayer life and daily devotion time in God's word. Encourage a strong prayer base among musicians and technical teams.
Management: Demonstrates organization and ability to initiate and implement administrative procedures and self-discipline to work independently on agreed upon goals.
Passion: A heartfelt passion to honor and glorify God through impacting children for Christ.
Leadership: A visionary person, compassionate, prayerful, and teachable, who is able to recruit, manage, and motivate others. This person should be able to effectively apply biblical and theological truth in ministry.
Team Player: Demonstrates ability to function as part of a team.
Communication: Effectively communicate in a timely manner with all staff and volunteers.
Interpersonal skills: Able to interact with all age groups through good verbal and written communication skills. Have a desire to consistently grow and develop individuals with interests in children's ministries.
Committed: Have an unreserved commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the church and agreement with the church's doctrines and willingness to become a church member
Education: A degree or pursuing education related to children's ministries with 2-3 years experience or additional experience in lieu of formal education.
Ministry Responsibilities
1 Ensure fulfillment of the church's children's ministry vision.
2 Under the executive pastor's supervision, the children's pastor shall plan, promote, implement, and oversee an approved comprehensive ministry program for children from birth through fifth grade to include, but not limited to the following: Sunday School, Children's Church, Camp Mercyville, Awana, Summer Family Night, Nursery, VBS, Push the Rock, and Upward.
3 Develop a dynamic team of staff and volunteers by providing resources and training and implementing appreciation strategies.
4 Consistently communicate with ministry leaders and volunteers to foster teamwork and belonging.
5 Provide Sunday lessons and take-home activities for all children's ministry areas.
6 Develop an active outreach ministry to preschoolers and elementary children and their families.
7 Actively monitor and report progress in all ministry areas.
8 Provide resources to parents for them to augment their parenting skills and improve their relationship with their children.
9 Communicate in a timely manner with parents of new children.
10 Develop and implement policies for the safety and security of the children
11 Facilitate the sharing of space, resources, and teaching materials by the church and other ministries/departments.
12 Coordinate and staff nursery/preschool care during agreed church-wide events.
13 Track growth for future development.
14 Ensure orderliness of ministry areas.
15 Manage approved budget.
