Job Description:
Job Title – Christian Education Program Manager
The Christian Education Program Manager is responsible for working cooperatively with the Session, the pastor, and lay leaders to plan, develop, and lead the education
ministry of Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church (LBPC). Creativity,_noemailpassion, and
a willingness to support children and families in their individual spiritual journeys are
critical to success. This is a part-time position (approx.15-20 hrs/week).
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement annual children, youth, and adult education strategy
plans to actively support spiritual growth and development for all ages within the
church (in conjunction with the pastor and with approval by the session)
Develop creative approaches aimed at increasing participation in children and
youth activities at LBPC using social media, outreach avenues in the broader
local_noemailmunity, and approaches to individuals/families visiting LBPC
Plan, coordinate and teach children and youth Sunday School classes and
Vacation Bible School, including selection of appropriate curriculum materials,
recruitment of volunteer teachers, and new teacher training/orientation
Develop and produce age-appropriate worship activities that_noemailpliment liturgy
themes for children who attend Sunday worship services (e.g., devotional
‘worship packets', children's parable time, etc.)
Provide guidance and support to volunteer teen and adult education leaders to
ensure that the agreed strategy plans are delivered in a cohesive, coordinated
manner
Lead teen education and social gatherings (including the LIFT group and
confirmation classes) with support from the pastor when lay leaders are not
available.
Plan periodic age-appropriate Christian mission_noemailmunity service activities for
children and youth
In coordination with the pastor, music ministry leaders and others, plan and
deliver occasional special children & youth events (Christmas pagents, special
worship offerings, intergenerational events, Rally Day, etc.)
Be informed of Christian Education opportunities and resources at various
denominational levels and encourage LBPC participation, as appropriate
Provide oversight and ensure staffing of the nursery as needed (i.e., for worship
services and special events, as appropriate. (Note: Nursery attendant is currently
a paid position).
Prepare annual Christian Education budget
Maintain classroom supplies and attendance records
Ensure that Christian Education rooms and bulletin boards are well maintained
Ensure that all adults working with children or youth have passed a background check and are monitored in line with church policy.
Qualifications:
Practicing Christian
Sense of call and passion for working with children and youth
Experience in education
College or seminary degree in youth ministry or Christian education is preferred,
but not required
Ability to work flexibly (weekends, evenings, irregular schedule, etc.)
Current background check and CPR training (will be paid for by LBPC if not
available)
