The purpose of arts and music at FPCHS is to glorify God. The Director of Arts and Music Ministry works with the Senior Pastor to craft worship services through music, visual and performing arts. An important hallmark of FPCHS is an arts and music program for all ability levels that ministers to the_noemailmunity through music, visual and performing arts.
The Director of Arts and Music Ministry directs a dedicated 25+ adult choir and handbell choir through conducting regular rehearsals and participating in worship services. Brass choir, woodwind choir and other regular instrumental groups may also be formed. The director plays piano or_noemailan while leading the choir and other musical groups in rehearsals and worship.
The Director will work with FPCHS staff, support all church ministries,_noemailmunicate relevant information about the FPCHS Arts and Music Ministry to the wider_noemailmunity, and build on the tradition of hosting_noemailmunity musical and arts events. Examples include:
o Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra concerts
o Little Traverse Choral Society concerts
o Individual vocal and instrumental recitals
o Bay View ensembles
o Gospel, Jazz, and Folk concerts
Possess a strong faith in and relationship with Jesus Christ.
Play piano or organ to provide musical leadership for worship.
Have training and experience as a conductor of vocal and instrumental music ensembles.
Have a strong knowledge of church music literature: traditional, classical, historic, and contemporary.
Guide pastorally as a musician, leading with sensitivity and concern, and encouraging others to serve and live as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Have familiarity with liturgical drama and video.
Be able to provide instruction to others in arts and music.
Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in music including education in worship and church music.
