Roles and Responsibilities
The Director of Children's Ministry from Birth to Prekindergarten will work with the Marvin Kids Team and the congregation of Marvin United Methodist Church to:
Make disciples of Christ of all children and support families at MUMC
Seek wise counsel, find collaborations, build and encourage teammates, serve where needed outside of role
Core Competencies & Responsibilities:
Provides oversight, leadership and direction for ministry to families and children birth to prekindergarten through teaching, support and partnering with parents
Provides leadership for the nursery and nursery staff, including hiring, firing, training and developing nursery staff
Invest in and train Nursery and Preschool team and leaders
Lead Nursery and Preschool area for weekly services and provide vision, leadership, and direction to the team, Children's Ministry leaders and families
Assign and schedule nursery and preschool staff and volunteers in small and large group weekly, providing adequate coverage when leaders are out
Edit, prepare, distribute and oversee implementation of curriculum for Nursery and Preschool materials and distribution of schedule to volunteers and staff
Assist in all hiring, managing, training and dismissing of the Marvin Kids staff
Oversee set up and tear down of rooms for weekly services
Assist with weekly digital newsletter and other social media communication
Assist with the programming, events, and overall health and growth for Marvin Kids Nursery, Preschool and Elementary ministries
Assist in the evaluation, update and implementation of security measures assuring all Marvin Kids staff has adequate training and certification
Perform any other duties necessary for the success of Marvin Kids Children's Ministry
This position is full-time exempt.
Candidate Profile: Education & Experience
A bachelor's degree is required. Ideally this candidate will have three or more years of ministry experience managing a budget, staff and/ or volunteers. They will be organized, proficient in the use of technology and social media platforms. They will be collaborative and team oriented. The ideal candidate does not have to come from the Methodist context, but they must be familiar with and embrace Wesleyan theology.
