Job Description:
Ministry Purpose:
The Director of Children and Youth shall foster a strong education program for the children/youth through building relationships with teachers, students, parents and church leaders that will strengthen their_noemailmitment to the church and grow their faith in Jesus Christ. The Director will introduce, instruct, and nurture children/youth in their Christian faith and in life. The Director will focus on achieving this through Bible study, prayer, fellowship, worship, service and evangelism.
Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee the Christian education program for children (birth through 5th grade) and youth (6th -12th grade)
Develop children and youth ministry strategic plan that supports the mission and vision of SHUMC
Implement a Christian education program for children and youth using "Safe Sanctuary Principles and Guidelines"
Coordinate, promote, implement and further develop Sunday school, confirmation classes, after school and weeknight activities, VBS and seasonal/special events
Recruit, train, and supervise teachers, leaders, and other required volunteers to meet the education program requirements of the church on a rotating schedule and assist as needed
Participate in the preparation and development of the budget for the children and youth ministry and keep records of youth participation
Communicate and publish all activities through newsletters, bulletins, church calendar, and social media as needed; Share program news with the pastor and congregation
Actively recruit children, youth, and young families through church supported activities and programs in the_noemailmunity and schools
Partner and participate with other Christian groups in the_noemailmunity and seek opportunities that fit within the church's purpose and vision
Coordinate outreach opportunities and summer programs for children and youth
Terms of Employment:
Position requires flexible hours including evenings and weekends: Number of hours each week will depend on the amount needed to fulfill responsibilities but will not exceed 40 hours per week. Sundays are required and other days will be agreed upon with the pastor and Staff Parrish Relations Committee (SPRC)
The position is full time with a salary i_noemaile,_noemailmensurate with experience (Range: 28K-32K annual)
Position reports to the pastor for day-to-day operations but ultimately reports to the SPRC for goals, evaluations, and concerns related to the church and/or job
Applicant must participate in a criminal background check, drug test, and_noemailpletion of Safe Sanctuary Training

About Spring Hill United Methodist Church:
We are a growing, loving, energetic local church located in the historic heart of Spring Hill, Tennessee. We have 120-135 in worship on Sunday mornings. We are active in outreach ministries, bible studies and actively seeking new ways to be a lighthouse in our community. We are looking, waiting and actively praying for the person God has in mind to help us lead our children/youth as they become life long, fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
Required: Embrace Christian discipline and the United Methodist doctrine and theology; Possess a background and understanding of theology rooted in Wesleyan tradition
Required: Embrace a calling and show passion to work with children and youth
Preferred: Possess or working toward a Bachelor's degree and/or other certification related to Christian education of children/youth
Preferred: Possess prior experience leading children or youth ministry at church of comparable size
Desired Skills (church may provide education/training):
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven conflict management skills
