The Director of Youth and Family Ministries seeks to accompany, encourage and engage youth and families to grow in faith and discipleship through a wide variety of education and youth programs. This position includes responsibility for Sunday School (SS) during the 9:15 worship service, Vacation Bible School (VBS) in the summer, 345 Club (K-5th grade), 3rd Spot (6th-12th grade).
The applicant does not need to be Lutheran but should have an understanding of the theology.
Work collaboratively with all congregational ministries to fulfill our mission and vision.
Develop and lead ministries with youth and families that encourage a life of discipleship, including Confirmation, Sunday School, Bible studies, fellowship and service events, camp, retreats, regional youth gatherings.
Recruit, equip and coordinate adult volunteers and peer leaders.
Forge meaningful relationships with youth and their families, staff, volunteers and congregational members.
Communicate regularly with these groups through personal contact as well as printed and digital communications.
Reach out to new and to inactive youth and families.
Be present within the congregation: attend events as schedule permits; worship regularly; occasionally help to lead worship by, for example, reading lessons or providing children's sermons.
Other duties as assigned by the pastor or Church Council regarding the operations of the church.
