Job Description:
Position Summary: The Director of Youth Ministries leads a ministry that will surround youth with an unconditional love that fosters authentic relationships, anchors them in the essentials of the Christian faith, inspires them to a life of service, and equips them to carry the love of Christ to the world.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops and articulates a vision for the youth ministry
Directs middle and high school students in their spiritual growth
Provides spiritual and pastoral leadership to youth and their families
Oversees the planning and execution of all youth events and trips
Leads and disciples youth ministry leaders
Seeks to create a spirit of camaraderie, while avoiding cliques
Pastors youth, youth leaders, adult leaders, and student families
Preaches weekend services as required
Develops a team of volunteers in the youth ministry
Attends all required staff and ministry planning meetings on a weekly basis.
Develops and maintains accurate youth ministry budget, including on time provision of all financial reporting documentation on a monthly basis.
Maintains monthly/yearly attendance metrics.
Works closely with KidMin Director in special circumstances; e.g., 5th grade_noemailmunion retreat, promotion of 5th graders to student ministry
Provides assistance and support for the annual missions auction
Performs other related duties as assigned by Senior Pastor
Essential skills and qualifications:
Empathetic engagement with youth, youth leaders, and their families
Excellent verbal and written_noemailmunication skills
Familiarity with social media and_noemailputer software
Open, approachable demeanor
Humble spirit
Ability to assist, relate, and care for diverse types of youth
Possesses engaging training skills
Eagerness to learn
Demonstrates a heart for service
Ability to encourage a heart for service in young people
Models honesty and accountability
Understands the youth ministry is a vital part of the church and not an independent entity
Ability to calm and resolve conflict
Models and promotes a team spirit
Reports to: Senior Pastor

New Hanover United Methodist Church is a Spirit-filled and Bible-centered church and is committed to sharing to love of Christ to those in our local community and online.
