Student Ministries Director

Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church



Mission:   To provide a Christ centered empowering, equipping, and inspiring youth program for students at Thompson Church (TMPC) that is open and accessible to the greater_noemailmunity.

To lead in a way that youth encounter a_noemailmunity where they experience belonging, nurture, exposure to the invitation of the gospel, empowerment, supportive adults, and opportunities to take steps of faith with Christ, Christ’s people and Christ’s work in the world.

Student Ministry Responsibilities:  


Development & Leadership

1.     With the staff and leadership, develop and_noemailmunicate a vision and strategy to walk with middle and high school students on their faith journeys.

2.     Implement a recruitment strategy to train and empower others to walk alongside youth, including student & adults from the TMPC_noemailmunity.

3.     Cultivate a culture of radical hospitality and belonging for every student to learn more about who Jesus is, who they are and what Christ’s dream is for our_noemailmunity and the world.

4.     Provide overall direction, goal setting, strategy, administration, evaluation, and planning for student ministries.

5.     Provide creative and relevant curriculum, programming, and events for students. This includes the coordination of retreats, mission trips, camps, service opportunities and more.

6.     Develop parent partnerships and an advisory team for counsel, discernment, and lay-led accountability.

Routine Responsibilities

1.   Coordinate and lead weekly Sunday evening gatherings for middle and high school students.

2. Attend and engage in weekly worship opportunities for personal growth.

3. Connect youth with leadership opportunities in worship.

4. Organize and co-lead weekly Sunday morning education opportunities for middle school and high school youth.

5.   Oversee administrative functions for the student ministry, including planning and budgeting functions.

6.     Provide regular parent_noemailmunication including emails and quarterly meetings, maintaining healthy and caring relationships with students and parents.

7.     Meet weekly with the pastors and participate in weekly staff meetings.

8. Meet monthly with Christian Education team for planning and collaboration.


This position is 25 hours per week with periods of increased work (retreats and mission trips). The position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work in a creative, growing and lively_noemailmunity.

Pay is_noemailmensurate with experience. Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings are required.
