Supervisor: Senior Pastor
The Executive Pastor is a primary support person for the Senior Pastor and will provide management support/supervision for other staff ministers, staff members and coordination for volunteers to carry out the Church's mission. Primary duties include the supervision of all staff members (not Senior Pastor), coordinate curriculum and activities of connection classes, and oversee Finance Department. The Executive Pastor loves people, and has a passion for administration, evangelism, outreach, and missions both personally and at the ministry level. He is gifted and skilled in working in finance, personnel and strategic planning.
Primary management/supervisory responsibilities include:
Provide management support including supervision, accountability, coaching, annual performance reviews (evaluations), mentoring and Bible teaching to staff.
Supports the Senior Pastor in the overall vision casting and leadership of the Church's teachings.
Facilitate the annual strategic planning process including evaluation of ministry performance; review of mission, vision, and core values; development of key objectives and tactics; and establishment of three year goals.
Possess communication skills to effectively manage, preach and teach.
Coordinate with the Finance Director to manage financial record keeping and payroll systems while providing management oversite for financial operations.
Monitor and assess contributions and spending. Work with the Senior Pastor and Church Financial Advisor to implement adjustments when needed.
Develop annual financial plans that fund the accomplishment of the strategic plan and meet critical financial objectives such as established cash reserve levels.
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive Christian education/discipleship ministry for the Church. (Sunday School, Discipleship, Small groups, Missions and Ministry Events.)
Oversee, implement, and coordinate the effective use of curriculum by developing a strategy involving scope, sequence, and balance that provides for a comprehensive study of the Bible.
Assist the Senior Pastor in the management of social media outlets and overall web presence as well as book writing and promotion.
Assists the Church ‘building' teams working with architects, contractors and others in evaluation, planning, building, remodeling and equipping Church facilities.
Provide leadership, at the direction of the Senior Pastor, to the Church's building programs including other capital expansions, capital fund raising campaigns, master planning, design and architecture, contractor selection, and construction.
Job Skills, Requirements and Expectations
Possesses personality, temperament and interpersonal skills to relate and serve effectively within a multi-generational congregation setting.
Exhibit evidence of Christian character and servant leadership as stated in 1Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1Peter 5:1-4 in work environment as well as in home/family setting.
Agrees with and adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message (7/14/2000) as well as the Mission, Policies and Procedures of First Baptist Church Venice (FBCV). Must be a Disciple of Christ, an active member at a local congregation and when hired, become a member of FBCV.
Undergraduate and graduate degrees in administration, management, business, personnel management or organization management are desirable but not required.
Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience as a senior pastor, executive pastor, church administrator, campus pastor, associate minister, business executive or government is desirable but not required.
Employee is expected to be proficient with various office machines, equipment and procedures.
Have or quickly gain knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Shelby software.
This is a full-time salaried position with benefits. Salary DOQ (~ $75,000 - $84,000).
