Position: Full-Time Youth Minister Position
Reports to: Next Generation Pastor
Position Summary The Youth Minister will oversee the Middle School Ministry (MSM) and High School Ministry (HSM) students. The Youth Minister is responsible for the development and execution of MSM grades 6-8 and HSM grades 9-12. This includes but not limited to, programming, monthly events, activities, confirmation classes, retreats, and winter and summer camps. This position is a part of the Next Generation Ministry team and works closely with the children's minister. The purpose of the youth ministry is to partner with parents in teaching, guiding, and directing youth in the foundations of faith so they will grow into a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.
Primary Responsibilities
Plan, direct and evaluate all areas of the youth MSM/HSM at Free Christian Church
Cultivate servant leadership skills in students through student retreats, faith sharing, and other ministry opportunities.
Provide missions and confirmation opportunities on an alternating year schedule
Meet weekly with students for mentorship, bible study, and prayer
Work in collaboration with the NextGen ministry team and other ministries
Provide leadership by recruiting, training, and equipping volunteers to meet program needs
Ensure a positive and supportive environment that attracts youth and parents
Hold regularly scheduled parent meetings and keep parents informed of events and activities
Requirements
Personal and mature faith in Jesus Christ
Ability to work with youth & adult volunteers and minister to their needs
Leadership, teaching, and administrative skills
Relevant youth ministry work experience
High energy level; relational skills, high emotional and social intelligence; coachable
Understand student development stages, and familiar with contemporary youth ministry strategies
Ability to work with staff and leadership team positively
Available to work extended hours, evenings, over weekends and on short notice
Salary Commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position with health insurance benefits, church-funded retirement 403b, paid vacation and sick/personal leave.
Qualifications BA/BS degree required; some previous youth ministry experience; and seminary students are encouraged to apply.
