ABOUT SAGUARO CANYON CHURCH:
Saguaro Canyon is an inter-generational, family-oriented church located in Tucson,
Arizona that strives to meet the needs of people from all walks of life and stages in their faith.
We are a Bible-based church that believes in the inerrancy of scripture. Our pastors use an expository approach to teach the Word.
Our services are designed to be inter-generational with two Sunday morning services. Children's
Programs and Nursery (birth - 3yrs) are offered at the later service.
Each week one of our worship teams guides this portion of our worship service through a
blended musical experience.
While Nursery is offered from the
beginning of the second service, our children (pre-k & up) join us in the worship service up until
message . Children are valued at SCC. We believe they learn best about worship by example, inThe mission of Saguaro Canyon Church is to connect our_noemailmunity to Christ . This can be broken down
as follows:
1) Connect to Christ
Create spaces for people to explore faith in Jesus, trust Him with their lives, and mature
in their faith. (Worship Gatherings, Community Groups)
2) Connect to Church
Help people discover their gifts and passions and find their fit in ministry so they can
serve the body effectively and joyfully. (Ministry to the Body)
3) Connect to Community
Equip people to share their faith with others and be an influence in their_noemailmunity as
they live out their faith in their sphere of influence. (Mission to our world)
REPORTS TO – Senior Pastor
The Generations Director oversees the strategic vision for Children and Youth
Ministries at Saguaro Canyon Church (nursery through 12th Grade) as well as working
together with members of the pastoral staff to integrate family-oriented discipleship
and parenting initiatives throughout the church. He/she will also cultivate the church's
"inter-generational church" culture by facilitating_noemailmunity development across
generational lines. This individual is responsible for approving ministry decisions for
the ministries under his/her care (including department budget, curriculum,
programming, processes, and security and safety procedures) as they flow into the
overall vision and mission of the church.
SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT / ETHICS
1. Exhibits the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5)
2. Lives a faithful_noemailmitment to prayer and the Word
3. Engages in conduct that would bring honor to Christ and the church
4. Is a member (or willing to b_noemaile a member) of Saguaro Canyon Church
5. Exhibits a heart of_noemailpassion, humility, is trustworthy, and is a servant leader
6. Maintains a healthy balance between ministry and family
7. Strong theological orientation and is in agreement with EFCA Statement of Faith
(without reservations)
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor's degree preferred (but not required)
2. Previous experience in children/youth ministry and leadership role(s)
3. Ability to teach, develop strategy, solve problems, etc.
4. Strong,_noemailpassionate leader
5. Self-starter with ability to recruit and lead others with little management
6. Life experience in parenting and/or children programming (either as a parent or
working directly with parents and children)
7. Excellent_noemailmunication skills (written and verbal)
8. Team player who is willing to work under the leadership of others and carry out
the vision already in place.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Meet regularly with the pastor to coordinate the Generations ministry with the
total ministry of the church
2. Oversee Children's Ministry (nursery through 5th grade) and Youth Ministry
(6th-12th grade) by providing vision,_noemailanization, decision-making, curriculum,
process development, program development, and teaching while ensuring
safety and security
3. Develop, integrate and lead the implementation of a family-oriented vision
within Children and Youth Ministries
4. Integrate parent, family and generational ministry initiatives within other
ministry areas (Community Groups, Worship Gatherings, Church-wide Events,
etc.)
5. Equip parents for leading godly families by teaching classes, holding events, and
providing resources. Provide guidance to families and/or students as need.
6. Encourage cross-generational_noemailmunity between children/youth and adults
7. Lead departmental meetings with staff/key volunteer leaders
8. Understand and oversee the vision for spiritual development from birth
through high school of all children/youth and facilitate the transition of
children/youth between Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry and serving in the
church
9. Help equip and mobilize families for mission opportunities
10. Attend staff meetings
11. Understand this position is a salaried position in which the director will need to
be available some evenings and weekends
12. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned
