Our Pastor after 13 years of serving us retired, leaving a vacancy in our church. God has blessed this church for over 130 years. We are known as a Bible believing, praying church open to the Holy Spirit, so many people in need of prayer call us.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Pastor to lead our congregation. In this role you will be responsible for providing spiritual guidance, teaching biblical principles, and fostering a strong sense of community within our church. Your leadership will inspire and equip members to grow in their faith and serve others.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, preaching weekly sermons that are biblically sound, engaging, and relevant. Provide pastoral care, counseling, and support to individuals and families. Encourage and mentor church members in their spiritual journey and involvement in ministry. Actively participate in community outreach efforts to serve and connect with the local community. Oversee the physical upkeep of the church buildings, parsonage and grounds, including managing repairs, upkeep, ensuring safety, coordinating volunteers for cleaning and maintenance.

About Pleasant Valley Church :
We are an independent rural church 17.5 miles from Miller, SD in an agricultural area. There is an older but well-kept parsonage on site. It includes a newer detached 2 car garage. The fellowship hall (added in 2005) is attached to the parsonage. We have a sound system and video projector in the church, and sermons are recorded and posted on Facebook. Our church is situated close to good hunting and fishing opportunities. We are 4 miles from Sunshine Bible academy, a non-denominational pre-k through 12th Christian school. Tuition is reduced for pastors. Miller's public school is also a short drive away. The small town of Miller is growing, and it includes a grocery store, clinic and hospital, parks, library, Ace Hardware and Runnings. The pastor receives a percentage of our weekly offering, and we do guarantee a minimum monthly salary of $1,000 to provide some certainty of income during seasonal swings in offerings. Housing and utilities (including fiber optic Internet) are provided. While we currently cannot offer the salary we wish we could and hope to, there is both full-time and part-time employment available in the community. Our congregation is small, but growing, and there is opportunity for further growth. Congregants range in age from 2 to 87.
Job Qualifications:
Some Bible school education is a plus, but we do not strictly require a specific level of formal post-secondary education. Love for God, compassion for people of all ages, and a desire to impact eternity are more important to us than a degree. Musical abilities are a plus but not required. Openness to the gifts of the Holy Spirit is important. We do not see speaking in tongues as a salvation issue. Some attendees have that gift. Some don’t. We see it as a personal choice.
