In addition to the character qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5:1- 4, we
have identified several important characteristics we believe our new lead pastor should
demonstrate.

He should give significant attention to expository and topical preaching and teaching of the Word of God, specifically on Sunday morning.

Our church prefers a man who has demonstrated his ability to lead and has experienced God's blessing in both spiritual and numerical growth in his present ministry.

He should have an ability to lead a team and develop small groups.

He should be a man who practices and teaches the spiritual disciplines.

He should be one who agrees with our statement of faith and is comfortable with the name "Baptist".

His spiritual gifts should include: teaching, exhortation, and administration.

Other priorities should include: a commitment to Godly living within the Norwich community or its immediate surroundings, continuous discipleship for believers, generating a spirit of love among the congregation, and a passion for the lost.

He should be unafraid to confront sin head on, yet still be approachable, accessible, and
full of grace.

Under the headship of Jesus, we would expect him to lead the church in envisioning God's desired future for our church. This would be done through merging the leadership team's passions and gifts, the congregation's giftedness, and the community needs.
