General traditional pastoral duties such as teaching, preaching and shepherding care of a small rural non-denominational congregation that was established in 1901 in the foothills of the North Cascade Mountains 25 miles NE of Bellingham, Wa. and 30 miles west of Mt. Baker and 11 miles south of the Canadian border.
Abilities in music especially the leading of the singing of hymns would be especially helpful. In that the area is a growth area in Whatcom County and that congregation has grown to the point that a new building will be needed to be built in the near future, someone with construction skills would be an real plus. Construction jobs are available as new houses are being built in our area to meet the demand for middle income people who are priced out of the high cost in surrounding areas.
The church property is located in an unincorporated part of east Whatcom County on a 4.68 acre small town commercial piece of park-like property at the roundabout junction of Washington State Highways 542 & 547. Approximately 5,000 permanent residents live within 4 miles from the chapel; there are over 4,000 temporary residents that come on weekends and holidays and approximately 3500 cars pass each day through the roundabout either going to Bellingham to work or to Mt. Baker as this junction is the International gateway to the Mt.Baker-Snoqualmie National Forrest with hiking and skiing opportunities.
