II. Reports to: Lead Pastor
III. Primary Purpose: To be a presence-driven leader who makes fruitful disciples of Christ to the churched and unchurched students in grade 6 through High School
IV. Accountabilities:
A. Relational Ministry
1. to have a contact ministry with students (defined as home visits, school activities, small group outings, etc.)
2. to interact with teens one one-on-one in the church building
3. to counsel youth as needed, upon referral by parents, and during "crisis" times in their lives
4. to read, study, and research the needs, problems, and trends of the current and future youth culture.
B. Program Ministry
1. to design an entire year of youth activities and events by January annually
2. to develop a long-range plan for youth ministry for the next three years
3. to evaluate activities and ministry every quarter for its effectiveness and validity
4. To Establish healthy transitional plans for students leaving Children's Ministry to Youth Ministry and Youth Ministry to Young Adults Ministry
5. to plan and lead a weekly fellowship for Junior and Senior high students (Sunday School & Youth Group)
6. to contact all youth who visit the church or youth fellowship times by email, phone, text and/or visit
C. Discipleship Ministry
1. to disciple Junior and Senior high students on a weekly basis
2. to develop and train leadership for a "girls group" and a "guys group" for Senior high students
3. to ensure that a discipleship group for new believers is taught upon return from the Senior high retreat
4. to develop and ensure that a bible study is taught during the Junior and Senior Family School time
5. to recruit leadership for a junior high prayer group
6. to have a plan for summer discipleship by the end of the first quarter
D. Adult Leadership
1. to recruit, train, and equip adult leaders who have a burden to share their faith, talents, and time with teens. Establishing a Youth Leadership Team.
2. to counsel with Pre-Youth, Junior high, and Senior high leaders to discuss the on-going ministry
3. to implement SALT (strategic accelerated leadership training) events for all adult youth workers
E. Student Leadership (SALT)
1. to build a core of committed teens to serve as leaders for the Junior and Senior high youth groups
2. to "pass the baton of leadership" to the members of youth leadership team through training, evaluation and service
3. to counsel and direct the team the development of the on-going ministry via meetings
F. Parents of Youth
1. to be available for counseling and intervention of family needs and times of crisis
2. to contact parents to encourage them in their walk with the Lord and parenting adolescents
3. to sponsor classes on adolescent issues utilizing resource persons, family school classes, seminars, etc.
H. General Staff Duties
1. to visit area hospitals
2. to attend staff prayer time & to attend staff meetings
3. to attend Long Range Planning meetings
4. to preach at times assigned by the Lead Pastor
V. Qualifications
A. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in directing student ministries in a church
B. Bachelor's degree in youth ministry, Christian education, or related field
C. Excellent relational skills with youth and parents
D. Ability to communicate the scriptures to the needs of youth
E. A team player who complements the ministry staff
F. A self-starter/self-disciplined individual
