Job Description:
Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, an unaffiliated Baptist church serving the city of Lexington and greater Davidson County_noemailmunity of North Carolina, is in search of a full-time Senior Associate Pastor of Visitation/Christian Education/Missions with the opportunity to b_noemaile Senior Pastor after working with the Senior Pastor and getting to know our church family.
The intention of this position is to fill the position of Senior Pastor at a point and time agreed upon by the Senior Pastor and the church for the Senior Pastor to retire, approximately one year.
Sheets Memorial Baptist Church began a Christian School in 1969 that now includes almost 300 students in pre-school through Grade 12. It also houses the offices for, and helped to found, Baptist Equipping Nationals. BEN is a mission board operating in the Middle East and East Africa in partnership with National Theological College and Graduate School. These cooperating ministries are training nationals to lead and plant churches. Both are headquartered on the campus of SMBC.
Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree from a school of similar theological position or equivalent experience. Experience should include 3 -5 years in a vocational pastoral position and experience with a Christian school is preferred.
The principle function of this position is to assist the senior pastor in the overall ministry of the church. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preaching, visitation, assisting with weddings and funerals, counseling, assisting in observation of the ordinances of Baptism and Communion, assisting Sunday School Superintendent, serve with and coordinate activities of the Mission's Committee and Mission Counsel and overseeing outreach ministries of the church which include: shut-ins,_noemailmunity programs, Christian Education, benevolence and others.
The general attitude of the applicant must be a desire to exercise tact, courtesy and diplomacy in dealing with visitors and church members alike. A spirit of faithfulness must be exhibited relative to the entire ministry of the church. The overall approach to duties should be as a ministry rather than mere employment. As an employee of the church, one must be willing to serve as an example of conduct, service, faithfulness and attitude as well as maintain a spirit loyalty to Christ, the church and the Senior Pastor.
This position requires regular attendance in all staff and deacon meetings, as well as, regular meetings with the senior pastor for discussion of ministry specifics, conflict management and times of prayer.

A. Education
1. Bachelor's Degree from a school of similar theological position or equivalent experience

1. 3 – 5 yrs. Vocational Pastoral experience

1. 1 Timothy 3:1 -9 & Titus 1:5 – 9
2. Like faith & complete agreement with church's Statement of Faith
3. Strong Leader
4. Good communication skills (exhorts, not rules)
5. Excellent teaching skills & experience in a regular class or group setting
6. Organizational skills & ability to handle multiple responsibilities equally
