First Baptist Church of Cuba, NY (an American Baptist Church) is looking to call a full-time senior/lead pastor who will live in our community and shepherd our church. First Baptist offers a parsonage one-half block form the church with four bedrooms, one and a half baths and a detached garage. The church building is classic brick and was rebuilt after a fire in 1870. Then in the 1960s, an annex was added with a fellowship hall, kitchen and stage with classrooms upstairs. The sanctuary seats at least 150 people and has an organ, piano, sound system and video projector. Our church attendance currently runs 40-60 people on a typical Sunday plus on-line followers. Worship services begin at 10 am and normally runs 60 minutes with time for hymn singing, corporate prayer, giving and preaching. We partake of the Lord's supper on the first Sunday of the month.
The pastor will be asked to lead a small staff and build relationships with our current three board leadership structure. Our staff includes a music director, secretary and custodian. Other duties would involve preparing sermons, planning worship services, providing discipleship and pastoral care to the church and building relationships in the community. First Baptist Church has a history of being a mission-driven church and the pastor would be expected to be present in our community. As we look to the future of our church, we pray that we can honor that history and seek to grow spiritually under the teaching ministry of our pastor.
