Church Overview
Crosswalk Community Church is a multi-generational, multi-cultural church community with a heart to connect people to Jesus and to each other. Located near downtown Sunnyvale, California, this congregation has served the local community and beyond for over 100 years. The church was founded in 1905 as the First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale. In the year 2000, the church changed its name to Crosswalk Community Church in order to present a greater focus on the local community and welcome all followers from across denominational boundaries.
Role Overview
The role of the Senior Pastor is to lead the Crosswalk Community Church in fulfilling its vision and mission as directed by our Lord Jesus Christ, in the heart of Silicon Valley and beyond. Crosswalk Community Church exists to connect people to Jesus and to each other. Our mission is to passionately demonstrate the love of Jesus by serving all people, choosing sacrifice, pursuing truth, and making disciples.
The work of the Senior Pastor is enabled by the Holy Spirit, supported by prayer, guided by Scripture, and carried out in the name of Jesus Christ for the glory of God the Father.
Select Responsibilities
-Provide overall leadership (spiritual and organizational) to the congregation
-Cast God's vision for our church and strategize on the execution of the church's mission. Inspire, equip and mobilize the congregation in carrying out that vision
-As main preacher and teacher, preach the gospel in a clear and simple way so that congregants are given the opportunity to respond to God's calling
-Lead church staff to fulfill the mission and ministries of the church through hiring, retaining, reviewing and elevating the team
-Provide pastoral oversight to congregation being in tune with its spiritual health
-Administer the sacraments of baptism and communion
-Prepare and manage church budget, make decisions regarding facilities and use of church resources with input and partnership of the church council
-Provide strategic leadership to Sunnyvale Christian School in collaboration with the school administrative team
-Participate in Santa Clara County interchurch partnership initiatives such as Growing Healthy Churches events in representation of Crosswalk
Minimum Qualifications
-Spiritual integrity and an ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ
-Master's degree from an accredited seminary
-Minimum of 10+ years of ministry experience
-Theologically sound, experienced and well-trained as preacher and teacher of the Scriptures
-Strong verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills to interact with congregation, staff and council
Preferred Qualifications
-3+ years as senior pastor or 5+ years as associate pastor or similar ministry experience, with progressive responsibility in a growing ministry
-Demonstrated strong administrative skills to recruit, delegate, empower and mentor both paid and volunteer staff
-First-hand experience working in cross-cultural environments

Identifies potential challenges and opportunities and works with the team to plan contingent actions as appropriate.
-Intellectually astute and curious: In tune with current issues demonstrating sensitivity and appreciation for diversity of perspectives and cultures. Curious lifelong learner who wrestles with the Word and deliberately practices self-care with what fills his/her soul
