Job Description:
Due to the retirement of our pastor, we need to fill his position. Our congregation desires a pastor with a shepherd's heart, one who can effectively communicate God's Word through preaching, teaching, and outreach. He should have good leadership skills and inspire our congregation to continue carrying out the great commission within our church and local community.
Equipped with a strong biblical foundation, combined with knowledge and wisdom gained through experience, our new pastor should not only be a good communicator, but also able to meet the spiritual needs of the body in an uplifting, encouraging, and challenging way.
The ideal candidate should feel comfortable leading PVBC through the next phase of its life, and work with the elders to create a compelling, forward-looking vision for the church membership and its ministries.
-Preach and teach the Word of God
-Serve as an elder on our elder board and, with the help of the other elders, lead the church
-Shepherd the flock, create disciples, and mentor, counsel, and provide pastoral care when needed
-Work with the leadership of the church to develop and carry out the vision of PVBC
-Support and encourage the ministry team leaders, as well as offer guidance and direction when needed
-Oversee, support, and provide direction for the paid staff
-Maintain effective lines of communication with the elders, ministry team leaders, and staff
-With the help of the elders, lovingly, prayerfully, and biblically resolve conflicts within the congregation if (or when) they arise
-Maintain confidentiality
-Conduct baptisms, weddings, and funerals

Pleasant View Baptist Church (PVBC)—affiliated with Converge Worldwide—is a loving church with a big vision that is impacting our community for Christ. Our current average Sunday in-person attendance is 77. We are in Bettendorf, Iowa, in an area known as the Quad Cities.
Our vision is to CONNECT with God and others, to GROW with God and others, and to SERVE our church, community, and world. Current programs include one Sunday morning worship service (live-streamed), connect groups for the adults, Sunday school for the kids, and occasional special services. We offer AWANA, youth group, VBS in the summer, men's and women's Bible studies, a group for grandparenting with purpose, and we host a weekly, continuously growing Celebrate Recovery group. Job Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of demonstrable experience in a pastoral role, either as a senior or associate in another church, and show a passion and calling for pastoral work, as well as exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in his life.
An advanced degree (or currently pursuing one) is favorable but not required.
The applicant must agree with and affirm PVBC's published statement of faith as well as have the biblical qualifications of an elder (see 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9).
