Purpose:
The Senior Pastor is responsible to the church for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for engaging in pastoral care ministries to meet the needs of the church members and the local community and to function as the chief administrator of the church staff.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the life and direction of the church, its values, purpose and strategy.
Work with Consistory to ensure that the church's practices and policies effectively support its ministry activities.
Assist with defining the church's purpose and lead the church in alignment with that purpose.
Prepare for and conduct worship services.
Lead in the observance of the biblical ordinance such as baptism, communion, etc.
Lead in proclaiming the gospel to the church and the community.
Attend Consistory meetings. Provide spiritual direction and work with various committees in evaluating and making recommendations to the church's programs.
Attend Elder's meetings and provide significant input.
Perform wedding ceremonies and conduct funeral services.
Conduct pre-marital, family, vocational, bereavement, and other counseling sessions as needed and within professional qualifications.
Supervise and mentor staff members.
Serve as a representative in community matters.
Conduct new membership classes.
Effectively communicate and relate to all segments of the congregation, staff and the Consistory.
May be assigned other responsibilities as determined by the Consistory.
Qualifications:
Must possess the qualifications as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
Must be aligned to the biblical doctrinal beliefs of the Church.
Must be able to passionately preach biblical sermons which instill God's Word, are inspiring and have the potential to grow the faith of the congregation.
Seminary degree is preferred by employment start date.
Five years of experience in ministry leadership is preferred.
Must have excellent leadership, administrative, and human relation skills.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the church's needs.
