Job Description:
VMBC Mission Statement: The Mission of VMBC is, first of all to know God for ourselves. PRINCIPLE FUNCTION
The Senior Pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelation, to engage in pastoral care ministries, to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life, and to act as the chief administrator.
Senior Pastor Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Preach and teach the Bible so that new Christians can grow and older Christians are challenged.
2. Develop, encourage, and motivate ministry leaders and members in the mission of advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ so sinners can be saved and believers edified.
3. Administer and guide the church staff to work together in faithfully executing their ministry responsibilities.
4. Be responsible for visiting and caring for the congregation, encouraging and_noemailforting them through scriptures and prayer.
5. Maintains a devoted personal prayer and study life and daily intercedes for the Saints.
6. Administer all the pastoral duties related to the office: funerals, weddings, baptisms,_noemailmunions, counseling, visitations and the like.
7. Cooperate with local and state associations, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interests, represent the church in civic_noemailmunity matters.
8. Be responsible for attendance at local, state, national conventions, and pastor conferences that further Christian Church education and growth.
9. Act as moderator of Church business meetings.
10. Plan and conduct the worship services.
11. Prepare and facilitate sermons.
12. Works with Church Corporate Officers, Deacons, and other key leadership to carry out the mission and purpose of the church.
13. Oversees, along with Deacons, all church discipline matters and the management of conflict issues in the Church.
Senior Pastor Job Qualifications at a minimum will include but are not limited to:
1. Holy Spirit-filled and guided by biblical principles as set forth in 1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Peter 5:2-3.
2. Licensed and ordained as a Baptist Minister.
3. 7 years or more of Pastoral church experience.
4. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Bible College or University or a Masters Degree from an accredited seminary. (Masters Degree Preferred)
5. Effective_noemailmunicator, oral and written.
6. Commit fully to and support the vision, mission and policies of VMBC.
7. Strong interpersonal skills.
8. Demonstrate_noemailmunity involvement.
