We are an independent, evangelical, sovereign democratic Baptist church. The Church is in North Stonington, Connecticut. It offers its church members the opportunity to grow in the knowledge of the Holy Spirit through Bible-centered Christian education. It also encourages its members to grow in love for one another through fellowship, Helps and Needs ministry and assimilation. And lastly, to grow in service to the Kingdom through the individual members use of their Spiritual Gifts and personal evangelism.
The Church: Second Baptist Church is an active community minded church with a member participating congregation that has been in existence for over 250 years. We are committed to preaching and teaching the Word of God and desire to participate in fellowship and ministry with other assemblies of like faith in the common goal to fulfill the Great Commission.
Our church offers opportunities for ministry in the areas of Worship Service, Sunday School, Youth and Children's ministry, and Community outreach.

The Position: We're looking for a Senior Pastor.

The Senior Pastor shall be a man called, ordained and set apart by God to the Gospel ministry, biblically grounded and Evangelical in theology, is able to affirm and support the Doctrinal Beliefs, Church Covenant and Church Constitution and is committed to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture for Pastors and Elders. The Senior Pastor will be one who exemplifies godly character and leadership, compassionate in recognizing and meeting the needs of others, innovative, action oriented, committed to results and demonstrates a high level of excellence and competency.
A degree from an accredited college of higher education and or a degree from a theological Seminary is preferred and 2 years of previous experience as a Pastor or equivalent experience.
To plan and conduct worship services; including preparing and delivering sermons.
Lead the Church in an effective program of witnessing.
Regularly visit members and follow-up with first time visitors.
Conduct counseling sessions; perform wedding ceremonies and funerals.
Participate in a Church Leadership Team that will be involved in planning Church ministries.
Work with Deacons; train and lead the Deacons in their ministry as spiritual leaders within the Church.
Represent the Church in civic matters
Serve as chief administrator of the Church staff.
Act as Chaplain for the North Stonington Christian Academy
