JOB CLASSIFICATION: This is a full-time position based on a 40-hour work week. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: The University Minister reports directly to the Church Administrator with oversight by the Senior Pastor (or other designated staff member) and coordinates, when appropriate, with all the church staff in planning, scheduling, and directing the education and discipleship training of university students. The Minister leads in the direction of the University Ministry with support from and consultation with the University Ministry Committee. "The University Ministry Committee's primary responsibility is to support the university ministry by working with university students in planning, promoting, and conducting this ministry." (UHBC Bylaws) The University Minister is responsible to the UHBC church membership through the church's Personnel Committee for employment requirements and responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Following is a general list of basic required duties. The University Minister will be subject to the church's Constitution and Personnel Policy and is guided under the direct supervision of the Church Administrator, with oversight by the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee. This list is not inclusive of all of the activities and functions, and other duties may be assigned by the Minister's supervisor: Serve as the primary contact person for the University Ministry at UHBC. Meet regularly with the University Ministry Committee for support and to coordinate, evaluate, and implement activities and enhance mission, vision, and programs. Provide direction and leadership for the University Ministry's education programs by coordinating and promoting Bible study, Sunday School, discipleship training, mentoring, and service activities. Plan and direct all University Ministry-related activities such as mission trips, retreats, graduation Sunday, seminars, banquets, and other special events. Advise in the use of materials, equipment, supplies, and space by university students in all church areas. Provide Christian guidance to meet the unique needs of university students and their friends. Oversee and coordinate tasks and ministry with the UHBC University interns and Sibley Endowment scholarship interns. Provide structure, feedback, and evaluation to the UHBC University interns. Provide regular reports (at least each semester) to the University Ministry Committee, Sibley Endowment Foundation, and special scholarship endowment. Work with program leaders, teachers, and appropriate staff members to resolve philosophical, procedural, and scheduling challenges affecting the University Ministry. Develop a program of outreach to undergraduate, graduate, and international university students and university-aged people. Keep up-to-date on Christian education methods, technology, and social media, and incorporate them appropriately in the University Ministry. Prepare, administer, and stay within the University Ministry budget. Comply with all established church policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws. On occasion, be available nights and weekends for University Ministry needs, as well as to work with the Senior Pastor in making emergency pastoral care visits as needed. Visit prospects and members related to ministry to university students and as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Serve as Staff Advisor for church committees as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Attend meetings (weekly, monthly, etc.) as requested. Work with Social Media and/or Marketing Personnel or volunteers to promote events (internal and external). Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Church Administrator.
