Mt Denson Cumberland Presbyterian is looking for an inspirational individual to lead our growing congregation in musical worship.
Job Title: Worship Leader
Reports To: Pastor and Session (Committee of Elders)
Position Type: Part-Time (Weekly)
Location: Mt Denson CP, Springfield, TN
Position Summary: The Worship Leader plays a key role in facilitating meaningful worship experiences that align with the church's mission and theological values. This individual will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading music and worship elements during church services and special events, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, preparation, and spiritual leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Select hymns and worship music that reflect the scripture and message focus for each service in consultation with the Pastor.
- Lead congregational singing and musical worship during services.
- Provide verbal leadership during services, including opening prayer, transitions, and announcements as needed.
- Coordinate with musicians (instrumentalists, vocalists, accompanists) to support worship services.
- Lead and direct the church choir, including:
- Choosing appropriate music selections
- Organizing and leading rehearsals
- Arranging or securing accompaniments as needed
- Maintain and oversee the condition of musical instruments, coordinating repairs or tuning when necessary.
- Collaborate on the production of worship materials such as bulletins, handouts, and worship folders.
- Actively participate as a member of the Worship Committee.
- Take on other tasks and responsibilities necessary to support vibrant, reverent, and spiritually enriching worship through music.
Additional Information:
This position will work closely with and under the guidance of the Pastor and the Session (committee of elders). The Worship Leader should be someone who seeks not only to perform music but to foster a shared experience of worship, encouraging participation and spiritual growth within the congregation. All staff, volunteers, ministers, and anyone involved with minors serving at Mt Denson CP are required to complete a comprehensive background assessment for the safety and security of others.

- Strong vocal and musical leadership skills; ability to lead a choir and work with a variety of musicians.
- Familiarity with traditional Christian hymns and liturgical worship practices.
- Organizational and communication skills to coordinate with church staff and volunteers.
- Experience or familiarity with Bell Choir leadership or participation is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Pastor and Session.
- Dependable, flexible, and passionate about engaging the congregation in worship.
- Strong vocal and musical leadership skills; ability to lead a choir and work with a variety of musicians.
