Job Description:

The Director of Youth Ministries is a full-time salaried, exempt position. The Director's primary responsibility is to develop and initiate relationship ministry with students in making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, and helping people find fullness in Christ. Currently these responsibilities are_noemailbined with the responsibilities of the Director Open Skies music into one role.

Duties shall include but not be limited to the following:

Implement and oversee the student ministry program within the vision of the ministry of First United Methodist Church Missouri City:
o Sunday School for Jr. High & Sr. High Students
o Bible study for youth
o Communications of ministry to the church youth
o Other activities and events (fundraisers, retreats, mission projects...)
Develop annual ministry budget and manage expenditures and reimbursements through the year. Utilize monies wisely and meet operating budgets.
Plan, oversee, attend, and budget for trips, missions, overnight excursions and gatherings. This may require having a valid passport and will require many days away, especially in the summer months.
Work with confirmation class leaders in overseeing the confirmation class program.
Recruit, train, and manage Student Ministry Staff, including volunteers and summer interns.
Manage the_noemailmunications of the ministry using the_noemailmunications department to include emails, texts, social media, and other avenues as needed.
Attend and participate in such meetings as the Charge or Church Conference, worship planning sessions with the pastors, weekly church staff meetings, and others as shall be appropriate.
Attend conference activities, meetings and seminars that relate to Youth Ministry. Take advantage of continuing education opportunities with support and approval from the Senior Pastor and budget availability.
Coordinate with the Children's Ministry leader to ensure that all youth volunteers are highlighted and trained, as required, on the Safe Sanctuary Policy
Maintain a healthy and growing personal spiritual life and lead others to do the same.
Other such duties as may be appropriate and assigned by the Senior Pastor. It is understood that due to the nature of shared ministry, all staff members may be required to perform duties which may lie outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

A person of faith embodying high moral and ethical standards and integrity
Adhere to the Safe Sanctuary policy of the church
Have a passion for student ministry and be a team player that is relational with students and has a learning attitude toward youth culture
Bachelor's degree
Experience with Christian ministry (preferably with students)
Demonstrated ability and success in leading others in meaningful worship
Strong evidence of personal maturity, biblical knowledge, and an understanding of Christian discipleship, and a heart of service to others
Administrative and leadership skills, including_noemailputer proficiency, the ability to work within budgets, and to visualize, resource and carry out effective programs
Ability to understand_noemailmunication needs across all levels of the church and develop an effective_noemailmunication program to address the congregation needs
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both church members and the others on the church staff
