In partnership with parents and the congregation, the youth pastor will foster discipleship among our students through three primary responsibilities:
1. Communicating God's Word in relevant and creative ways that encourage right belief and right living.
2. Leading teams of caring Christian adults to shepherd and disciple our youth.
3. Developing relationships, programs, and events that support our youth ministry vision.

Reports to: Executive Pastor
Salary: Dependent on experience and education

Communicating God's Word
1. Develop annual ministry curriculum emphases and goals.
2. Teach weekly at both midweek programs in support of those emphases and goals. Biblical messages are to be informed by adolescent development, are to speak to the variety of spiritual maturity and engagement expressed by our students, and are to encourage application.
3. Initiate one-on-one and small group conversations with students for the purpose of helping them take next steps in their faith.
4. Participate in_noemailmunity and/or school events in an effort to "live the gospel" in our students' world and relationally connect with the_noemailmunity and unchurched students.
5. Shape teaching culture by nurturing an environment where Scripture is held to be authoritative, the Spirit is invited to guide and empower, and orthodoxy leads naturally to orthopraxy.
Leading Teams
6. Recruit caring Christian adult disciples, help them find their fit within youth ministry leadership teams, and support them in their ministry roles.
7. Equip these teams through quarterly leadership meetings for purposes of team-building, training, and evaluating ministry goals.
8. Develop leaders one-on-one – coaching, praying, discipling, etc.
9. Shape leadership culture by nurturing an environment where leaders are valued, heard, and appreciated.
10. Develop student leadership teams with the purpose of growing leaders and gathering student input.
Developing Programs and Events
11. Maintain a description of a discipled teenager and a philosophy of ministry that informs how to encourage youth toward spiritual maturity with every program or event.
12. Design weekly programs which are growing in participation, enthusiasm, and excellence as all students are we_noemailed, shepherded, and nurtured.
13. Integrate retreats, events, mission trips, and small groups into the ongoing discipleship of students.
14. Establish rhythms of assessment and evaluation of ministry.
15. Shape ministry culture by nurturing an environment of fun, acceptance, care, Christ-centeredness, and prayer.
Additional Responsibilities.
16. Partner with parents – offer informative meetings, provide timely_noemailmunication, and invite constructive feedback.
17. Partner with congregation – find places for youth to serve (especially with children's ministry and nursery) and be a champion for youth ministry with entire church.
18. Partner with pastoral team – participate in staff meetings, assist in various pastoral duties (preaching as gifted, membership class, baptisms, etc), collaborate on overall ministry to congregation and surrounding_noemailmunity.
19. Provide oversight and support to our Young Adult Ministry, with a focus on helping local college-aged students stay connected to Edgewood.
