Worship Pastor/Worship Arts DirectorCommunity Evangelical Church Job Description: The Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director is a part-time staff person who develops the musical gifts and talents of Community Evangelical Church to facilitate the corporate worship experience thus causing the congregation to celebrate the Lord and come into communion with Him and to train worship leaders for generations to come.
Overall objectives: Specific Expectations: Planning of Services -- The process of planning services will be done with the pastor and normally will be done weeks in advance. The selection of songs, order of the worship and what creative elements will be in consultation with the Lead Pastor. The Worship Arts Director will do the coordinating of talent offerings. Coordinate, Recruit and Enlist Worship Team Personnel -- The Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director will be responsible for the recruitment and training of individuals to serve on the Worship Team. The Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director will also be responsible to schedule leaders, singers and band members each week and decide how they should be used and the planning of a schedule. Conduct Rehearsals and Prepare for Worship Services -- Rehearsal of the Worship Teams have been on Tuesday, but it will be at the discretion of the Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director to lay out a rehearsal schedule. The only guideline is to assure that rehearsals are not in conflict with other necessary ministries of CEC. The Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director will be expected to think through the flow of the service and how to weave meditative thoughts and Scripture throughout the service. A Pastor to this Ministry, A Shepherd of the Flock -- We would hope that the Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director would grow into a leadership role and pastoral-shepherd the ministry and people associated with the worship ministry. We would expect whole-hearted support and involvement in our small group ministry. We would desire that the worship and music ministry would attempt to intersect all the other ministries of CEC so that we are a unified, integrated ministry. Qualifications: Ministry-Related Issues: Relating to the Lead Pastor – The Worship Pastor/Pastor Arts Director will report and be directed by the Lead Pastor, who is presently overseeing the Worship Division in our ministry structure. The Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director will meet regularly with the Lead Pastor for oversight and coaching. Relating to the Congregation – It is very important to us that the Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director and their family be connected to the Body Life of the church and especially in regards to a small group in the church. We do not want them to be a "hired gun" for their ministry area, but to feel vitally linked to the church through relationships outside of the worship personnel. Administrative Support – We desire that the Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director's time be focused on preparing and leading, thus we will provide significant administrative assistance. The Lead Pastor will coordinate with the Worship Pastor/Worship Arts Director on how this can be best utilized. In addition, budgeting issues will be worked through with the Lead Pastor. Philosophy of Worship – We desire to corporately acknowledge and respond to God's majesty and power thus expressing our love for Christ's grace and mercy and doing it all in the control of God's Word and Spirit. Time Commitment: CEC has a vacation policy, which begins all ministers at two weeks paid vacation and adds additional weeks, taking in consideration those years of ministry in other churches.
