Wesley Chapel UMC is looking for a Music Director to drive the establishment of a vibrant and spirited music experience to complement the worship experience for a medium sized congregation. Wesley Chapel is a well-established Methodist Church with a growing multi-generational congregation. Committed to outreach within our congregation, community and abroad, we are looking for someone to plan and direct weekly traditional and modern services as well as special services such as Lent, Christmas and Easter. Successful candidate will collaborate with the Ministry team to ensure that music is an integral part of the worship experience. Wesley Chapel believes that music encourages an individualized and corporate worship. The Music Director holds an influential role in creating a welcoming, energizing and appropriate worship service to facilitate spiritual growth and a deeper connection with God. Connecting Connect with the members of the choir, praise band and congregation members through positive interaction. Planning and Organizing Cooperatively plan the worship order and music selections to complement the sermon. Introduce new and appropriate songs as needed. Develop original arrangements as needed to enhance the worship experience. Music Leadership Plan and conduct (and/or coordinate with other music staff) rehearsals and worship service participation Recruit, schedule, coordinate, and coach vocalists and instrumentalists for worship services (e.g., offertories, preludes, postludes, etc.). Motivate the choir and band members. Worship Leadership Coordinate with clergy staff to provide theologically and scripturally appropriate music, visual arts and sacred dance to enhance worship for both traditional and contemporary worship services including selection of anthems, hymns, and responses as well as music for special services (e.g., Lent, Holy Week, Advent, and Christmas, etc.) Creatively select and arrange musical selections for worship services and special events. Act as occasional liturgist for worship. Serve as worship music leader for services, unless delegated to others.
