Qualifications:
Five years minimum successful pastoral ministry. Seminary preferred. Must have available recent sermon video. Up to date resume. Five references required. Good preaching skills. Good administrative skills. Good with people. Good communicator.
Purpose:
The Senior Pastor is an ex-officio, Elder/Trustee of the church (1 Peter 5:1-3), ordained by God and called by the church to provide godly leadership and spiritual oversight of Christ's church and it's leadership by inspiring, equipping, ministering, and supervising Christ's church that it would fulfill it's purpose and mission.
Duties:
Inspiring:
By preaching and teaching God's Word with clarity and conviction.
By communicating the activity of God around them.
By modeling a life of faith and commitment of the Lord Jesus Christ.
By leading the church to discover and implement its vision and mission.
Equipping:
By leading the church to develop and maintain strategic systems by which new and old
believers grow from immaturity to maturity to ministry.
By teaching, modeling, and encouraging the evangelization of the lost.
By helping members find a place of service suited to their gifts and talents.
Ministering:
By providing spiritual counsel regarding doctrinal, moral, ethical, denominational and
relational issues.
By providing pastoral care during times of grief, crisis, illness, change.
Supervising:
By representing the church to the community and denomination.
By overseeing the programs and ministries of the church to ensure that the purpose of the
church is being met.
By overseeing the administrative function of the church.
By overseeing the leadership of the church: Elders/Trustees, Officers, council, support
staff.
