The Director of Worship Arts at Grace Crossing United Methodist Church will help the people of the community experience God's grace crossing their lives by planning and leading the musical portion of worship services, developing new musicians, and helping the congregation understand the meaning of the gospel through music and the arts.

Have a day of rest (no church work) one day a week
Meet with God each day to personally worship, pray, and be in Scripture
Meet regularly with a soul companion (mentor, confessor, spiritual director, counselor, etc.)
Invest in healthy relationships with family and friends
Participate in weekly staff meeting and other staff obligations
Meet regularly with the pastor for updates, ministry strategy development, worship planning and mutual encouragement
Music - Weekly
Prepare a song list that supports the theme of worship that week
Confirm all instrumentation and technology is ready for rehearsal and worship
Lead an efficient, well-organized, and fun weekly worship team rehearsal
Lead congregational singing with the worship team
Build Sunday morning slideshow for projection
Music - Ongoing
Recruit, audition, and successfully integrate new music team members
Recruit and train tech team members
Recruit, train, and give space for volunteer worship leaders to lead congregational singing
Be available for special services, such as weddings, funerals, etc.
Add new songs regularly that...
reflect the breadth and depth of the Christian gospel
emerge from diverse eras of church history (including today)
Assess multimedia and volunteer management processes, and lead updates as needed
Serve other ministries (children, youth, etc.) by incorporating musical elements as requested, including development of worship bands for both kids and youth.
Serve as a spiritual shepherd for members of the worship and tech teams
Foster a sense of community with the worship and tech teams
Lead regular training events to learn new songs and grow the team musically
Secure resources for worship team within the yearly budget

This position requires a vibrant relationship with Jesus, a whole-hearted commitment to the mission of Grace Crossing, and strong chemistry with the pastor and staff. The most qualified applicants will have extensive worship leading experience. Strong candidates will have an ability to effectively navigate music and sound infrastructure, the giftings to lead teams and multiply leaders, and a fully developed theology of worship that incorporates music, liturgy, word and sacrament. Grace Crossing is committed to worship that is contemporary in style but is rooted in the historical foundations of the Christian faith. The order of worship follows the traditions of The United Methodist Church, including weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper. A typical service will include songs from the newest and most popular worship songs on the CCLI list as well as contemporary settings of traditional hymns. Instrumentation usually consists of guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums. Other instrumentation such as strings, percussion, etc. are a welcome addition from time to time. Song lyrics and worship liturgy are projected on video screens to foster freedom of gesture, congregational unity, and hospitality to new visitors.
