Scope of Position The Pastor provides spiritual, pastoral and visionary leadership for the congregation. To lead and feed the sheep placed under his care, helping them to grow in grace and wisdom, teaching sound doctrine, helping believers mature spiritually, and equipping them to live for Jesus Christ despite opposition. Duties and Responsibilities Be devoted to the ministry of prayer on behalf of the church as a whole and the individual members. Prepare and preach sermons that will instruct, comfort and challenge the congregation in their Christian life to include Sunday morning, Wednesday night and other times as deemed necessary. Administer the communion monthly or as often as necessary. Arrange and/or lead classes for new members. Work with Board of Directors and other leaders of the church to promote the vision, mission, and ministry plans for BOLM. Visit the sick, grieving, elderly, and other as needed, for prayer and encouragement and equipping the Board of Directors and others to do the same. Conduct weddings and funerals as requested by members of the congregation. Meet with the Board of Directors to review the work being done and needing to be done. Report to the Board of Directors regarding calls made of a pastoral nature. Act as the point person along with the Board of Directors for BOLM with regard to ministry partners or other non-church groups using or requesting to use the facilities. Oversee church calendars. Participate in special programs and events as needed. Lead and help coordinate a plan for outreach that effectively shares the Gospel with our community. Meet with members of the congregation individually for the sake of helping them mature and grow in Christ. Keep office hours at the church as prescribed by the Board of Directors.
