The First Baptist Church of Peru, Indiana is searching for a full-time Associate Pastor (AP) to oversee the spiritual formation/discipleship programming of our congregation. The AP will maintain and enrich some of our current programming. However, we anticipate the AP creating, organizing and overseeing the implementation of additional programs. The AP's leadership and responsibility levels will vary according to the needs of each program: some programs will warrant full and direct participation, while others will require only an advisory capacity. Most programs will need something in between those extremes. Because the AP will be fulfilling such a foundational role in the life of our congregation, he/she will work in close partnership with the Senior Pastor. Having experienced the fruit of staff designated specifically for the spiritual formation of our youth, we believe we must provide the same intentionality and leadership to the spiritual formation/discipleship of the congregation as a whole. We are convinced this step is essential to fulfilling our mission of "helping people find and follow Jesus. Qualifications ~ A growing faith in Jesus Christ ~ Commitment to Scripture as the supreme authority for all we believe and do ~ A 4-year degree and/or equivalent experience in pastoral ministry ~ Experience in creating, implementing and leading spiritual formation/discipleship programming ~ Agreement with First Baptist Church's Foundational Documents ~ Adequate computer skills, including MS Office, email, and general computer navigation Values ~ A calling and passion to serve a multi-generational congregation ~ A desire to sink roots in a community and become a vital part of a family of faith ~ A developmental and systematic approach to spiritual formation/discipleship programming ~ A ministry goal of helping persons of all ages "find and follow Jesus" ~ Possess a servant's heart with an eagerness to grow, learn and collaborate in leadership Duties ~ Act in concert with the Senior Pastor to provide pastoral care for those calling FBC their spiritual home ~ Preach as the opportunity, need and gifts permit ~ Assist with leadership in worship ~ Collaborate with other pastoral staff, the Leadership Team, and relevant ministry teams ~ Oversee the congregation's spiritual formation/discipleship programming ~ Support and enhance current programming Interested Candidates respond to email: pfbckelly@gmail.com
