Position Description: Director of Children's Ministry

High School diploma required, college degree desired
Minimum one year experience in Christian Children's Ministry or related field
Position Responsibilities:
The Director of Children's Ministry will champion First Church's mission and lead our congregations in investing in children and their families through relationship building and cultivating stimulating environments for Jesus to change lives.
Recruit, develop, lead and manage a Children's Ministry Team to provide vision, support and evaluation of all aspects of children's ministry.
Recruit, train, lead and resource children's ministry leaders to offer engaging teaching that helps children understand and embrace biblical truth in our Children's Ministry Programs.
Work effectively with parents to foster support of the Children's program, including ongoing communication to provide opportunities for input, participation, and feedback.
Oversee the recruiting, scheduling, and development of adults to serve in the areas of weekly Bible studies, Roots ministry, and other events involving children and their families.
Plan, organize, and oversee local serving opportunities and creative events that children will want to attend.
Work alongside other church staff members as a team player, attending site team and staff meetings and sharing in the mission of First Church.
Organize/participate in/assist with other ministry initiatives at the direction of the Senior Pastor or immediate supervisor.
Required Meeting attendance:
Weekly Staff Prayer Gatherings – Tuesday 9AM
Leadership meetings: Church Conference, Administrative Board, Monthly full staff meetings, weekly Site Team
Line of Accountability: Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Crossfire Management (on behalf of the Senior Pastor of First UMC), Church Conference of First UMC via SPRC
