Job Description Title: Pastor Summary: A theologically conservative, community-minded, small independent Bible church seeks a bi-vocational pastor. Our goal is eventually to grow into a full-time position. The job responsibilities have been separated into groups below. Bi-Vocational Responsibilities: * Studying and preaching for Sunday morning service * Attend board meetings * Respond to emergencies when feasible * Provide ministry oversight as able * Upholds and enforces the church’s Statement of Faith, and is the final authority to resolve conflicts regarding church doctrine. Full-Time Responsibilities: * Responsible for studying the scriptures and staying current on theological issues. * Attends to the spiritual needs of the congregation including discipleship, pastoral counseling and leads in church disciplinary matters. * Oversees and leads all congregational services, including filling his temporary absences. * Develops the strategy and holds primary oversight for the formal evangelistic outreach of the church, including domestic and foreign missions. * Upholds and enforces the church’s Statement of Faith, and is the final authority to resolve conflicts regarding church doctrine. * Performs spiritual ceremonies for the church members, including communion, baptisms, weddings, funerals, dedications and welcoming into membership. * Strategic oversight of all church ministries, including direct supervision of all teaching ministries. * Identifies and develops the next generation of church leadership at all levels. * Serves as a member of the board of Deacons and is a de facto member of all church committees. In conjunction with the Deacons, formulates new committees as needed and attends meetings of the Deacons and, as appropriate, church committees. * Selects leaders of all church ministries and forms ministry teams as needed, with input from the deacons, and attends meetings of the Ministry Leadership Team. Will act as liaison between the Ministry Leadership Team and the Deacons. * Participates in establishing the necessary safety and security procedures for the church and its activities. * Determines the times and locations for public worship and the use of church property. * Represents the church organization to the local community and civic institutions. Qualifications: * Exhibits a mature relationship with Christ. * Must meet the criteria to be an elder as stated in 1 Timothy 3. * Must be able to teach and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. * Has had 3-5 years of pastoral experience (senior and/or assistant pastor). * Self-motivated to accomplish responsibilities. * Works well both independently and with others. * Computer literate with experience in Microsoft Office and related products. * Bachelor’s degree in Bible, theology, pastoral studies or related field is preferred.
