Title: Contemporary Worship Director Position: 20 hours a week, salaried Compensation: $15-$20k Annually Reports to: Rector (Senior Pastor) Position Description: Part-time position, responsible for all aspects involved in providing moving, faithful music to complement the principles, themes, and movements of liturgical worship for our contemporary services. Qualifications: A well-grounded, Scriptural, prayerful Christian whose life has been transformed by the grace of God through the work of Jesus Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit A strong sense of pastoral calling to lead the people of God towards Christ through music Demonstrated ability to work under the direction of pastoral leadership, and ability to work as part of a church staff team Strong vocalist and instrumentalist, preferably proficient in guitar and/or piano Knowledgeable in music theory and performance Committed to fostering congregational singing/participation Wide knowledge of contemporary Christian music, ability to render traditional hymns in a contemporary fashion, and excitement to work in the context of the worship patterns of the ancient church. Experience with liturgy a plus, or at least a glad willingness to learn. Leadership skills, with demonstrated success in organizing and managing a band Experience in managing A/V equipment A desire to craft new worship experiences in creative partnership with lead pastor Desire to compose new music a strong plus Responsibilities Oversees contemporary worship at the 11:00 AM Sunday service, with occasional special services and worship concerts in various seasons throughout the year Coordinates all organization, design, programming, communications, and other aspects of our contemporary worship ministry Recruits, hires, trains, leads, schedules, and provides direction to all musicians, paid and volunteer Works Sunday Mornings (10:00am – 1:00pm) at St. Peter's Attends twice-a-month staff meeting during the week, other administrative hours are flexible Attends weekly planning meeting with the rector Provides vision and strategic direction to expand the quality and scope of the worship team and program Prepares and oversees program budget in collaboration with rector and office staff Selects music and plans order of worship for each service in accordance with the Book of Common Prayer and lectionary Conducts weekly rehearsal with the band and vocalists, both to prepare for Sunday and build community with one another Coordinates with the parish administrator to ensure programs are correct for weekly service Updates and maintains band resource website (set list, charts, videos).
