Bethany’s mission is to “pursue and equip families to passionately follow Christ.” More information regarding our history, vision for ministry, our core values and our strategy to impact the La Crosse area for the Kingdom can be found at the church’s website: www.bethanychurchlax.org Job Title: Senior Pastor Reports To: Overseer Board Direct Reports: Pastoral staff ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Listen to God o Have a vibrant personal relationship with Christ through personal time in the Word and Prayer that can be modeled and drawn upon in ministry and discipleship o Demonstrate a passion for prayer life that inspires the church to pray with more zeal and passion • Shape the Vision and Culture of Bethany o In conjunction with the Overseer Board and Pastoral Staff create a clear vision and related goals for Bethany o In conjunction with the Overseer Board and Pastoral Staff, effectively communicate vision to the Bethany body. Build up the unity of the body to actively support a common purpose and clear sense of direction o Build a culture of high challenge and high support at Bethany. An attitude of humility, teamwork, accountability and spiritual growth should permeate all areas of ministry and service • Communicate Biblical Truth o Lead a preaching team to provide spirit-led preaching from God’s Word at worship services. When another member of the pastoral staff is preaching, provide leadership and guidance to ensure consistency of messaging and Biblical accuracy o Lead the teaching team to communicate in a fashion that demonstrates spiritual passion and that connects Biblical truth to practical personal application and to the vision of Bethany across all Bethany ministries. o Ensure that you and the team spend adequate time preparing for messages and in prayer in order to communicate Biblical truth in a creative impactful way that connects with the hearts and heads of those hearing the message • Develop Leaders o Lead individuals and teams within Bethany o Develop and equip leaders to more effectively perform in their roles. To remove obstacles and to build-up staff and lay leaders in order that they can achieve their God-given potential and have the maximum impact for the Kingdom o Develop spiritual leaders of families consistent with Bethany’s mission statement • Connect with the Community o Develop relationships with leaders in the community to know what’s on their hearts and minds and how Bethany could potentially serve those needs o Develop relationships with other pastors, churches and ministries in the community and with local and regional EFCA resources o Participate in Forest Lakes District and/or National EFCA conferences
