Job Description: Associate Pastor/Director of Student Ministries
Reports to: Senior Pastor; Leadership Team
Position Rating: Salaried, Full-time
Credentials: Clergy (ordained or licensed preferred)
FSLA Status: Exempt
Role
To lead, organize, plan, and build a healthy student ministry aligned with the mission, values, and overarching strategy of Kent Covenant Church. This includes establishing vision, setting budgets, overseeing, delegating, and working with other pastoral staff, volunteer leaders, and Student Ministry Team to provide spiritual growth gatherings, activities and events which offer opportunities for students to become followers of Jesus, grow in their faith, worship, experience community, and learn and apply biblical truth, so they may be prepared to face their future with hope and confidence as followers of Jesus.

Personal Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college/university (Bible, Christian Ministry major preferred).
Preferably three-years youth ministry experience in a thriving youth ministry
Demonstrated effectiveness in recruiting and developing a team of leaders
Demonstrated effectiveness in relationally shepherding a group of students
Agreement with Kent Covenant Church's mission, values, strategy, and statement of faith

Responsibilities
Teach, disciple, mentor, counsel and relate to students

Recruit, equip, and encourage volunteers

Partner with parents of the students

Relationships
Attend weekly staff team meetings
Provide a occasional reports to staff supervisor with goals, accomplishments, prayers and
praises
Meet monthly, with the Student Ministry Team and share goals, accomplishments, prayers,
and praises.
Network with other youth ministers in the community, the Pacific Northwest Conference and
the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Assist in other ministry needs as deemed necessary by the pastoral staff and Leadership
Team

A strong and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
A heart to love students, believer or unbeliever, where they are at and point them to Jesus
Christ
Able to disciple students to follow Jesus Christ so that they can own their own faith and
disciple others
Practices servant-leadership, with the emphasis on servant first
Teachable with growing faith, abilities, grasp of the Bible, Theology, and Apologetics
Possesses qualities catalytic to student ministry; an attractor, has a sense of humor,
energetic, compelling and authentic
Effectively communicates God's Word to students that they would know why and what they
believe
A desire to encourage and support the parents of students
Thrives within a team environment; with students, volunteers, parents, pastoral staff,
Leadership Team, and church staff
A self-starter—highly motivated
Strong verbal and written skills
Strong organization and communication skills
Possesses and effectively uses social media tools for ministering to students, i.e. Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, etc.
Has basic experience working with computers, AV, multimedia, tech and presentation software
Accepts and supports the doctrinal positions of the Evangelical Covenant Church
(denomination)
