Job Description Oakland City Church is a growing, diverse, urban church. As we grow in our ministry to families and to the community, we are looking for a youth coordinator to help disciple the youth in our church and to create outreach opportunities to our immediate neighborhood. One sentence job description: To reach out to and disciple youth in our church and to lead a team of volunteers to support the work. Reports This position will report to the Director of Family Ministries at OCC, with the expectation of a weekly one on one meetings and one weekly all-staff meeting. Volunteer youth leaders will also report to this position. Salary and Benefits This is a non-exempt position, at $25-$28 an hour. Part-time is up to 20 hrs. a week. This position is not eligible for benefits in accordance with our benefit plans. Roles and Responsibilities Lead Youth Group on Sundays Creating an environment for youth in middle and high school (grades 7-12) to grow spiritually. Lead relevant social and missional activities for youth to attend on Sunday mornings and during the week. Lead one fun activity once a season Lead one service activity once a season Develop a model for spiritual formation in our youth, including curriculum and training for leaders. Lead the Youth Group on Sunday mornings to better meet the needs of our students. Lead the Youth Group once a month and train and support volunteers to lead the remaining Sundays. Develop a core group of student leaders. Oversee the Sunday morning program for children in grades four, five and six (456ers Group) Recruit, coach and support volunteers Develop a model for spiritual formation in our youth, including curriculum and training for leaders. Be accessible to parents and guardians as needed Start discipleship programming Recruit, coach and support volunteers Encourage mentoring and discipleship by volunteers during the week Encourage volunteers to participate in involvement of the lives of the youths. Plan and organize summer service project Identify partner organizations, plan, develop and implement summer project for middle and high school students. Enroll, prepare and supervise participating students on the project Attend summer mission project Organize weekend retreat twice a year for youth Communication Write a Ministerial Letter once a Season. Attend the Parish Council Meeting two times a year.
