JOB TITLE: Minister of Music
STATUS: Exempt, Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor
GENERAL SUMMARY: The principle function of the Minister of Music position is to plan, conduct, and lead spirit filled worship services utilizing all resources available within the Music and Media Ministries. The Minister of Music shall be responsible for ensuring appropriate music is provided for worship services, as well as other church programs and events held at the church. He/she shall provide music leadership, including music education for all choirs. The Minister of Music will be responsible for an atmosphere of excellence in the area of Music, by developing, coordinating and administering an effective, well-rounded music ministry, and providing leadership and supervision to staff members and volunteers involved in this ministry. Guided by the mission of the church and the directives of the Pastor, the Minister of Music will develop and maintain a_noemailprehensive music ministry, including choirs and vocal and instrumental ensembles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall leadership and accountability for the total music ministry of
the church including:
Adult choirs (weekly rehearsals and Sunday worship)
Praise Team
Children and Youth choir rehearsals and performances
Work with the pastor and other worship leadership in developing and implementing meaningful worship experiences for the congregation.
Serve as a leader in the worship services, giving direction to the congregational singing, choir, and other phases of worship.
Select and teach music for all choirs.
Rehearse with choirs, soloists and instrumentalists as necessary to properly plan,_noemailanize and prepare appropriate music for worship services, church programs, engagements, events, etc.
Plan music and play_noemailan/piano for worship services, church programs, engagements, etc.
Select music from sacred, classical, traditional, contemporary and other resources.
Supervise the work of paid music staff workers and volunteers, and ensure quality musicians are available for all worship services. Conduct regular staff meetings for the purpose of evaluation and planning.
Secure substitutes to provide music leadership when needed.
Work closely with the Media Team regarding all audio and visual needs.
Coordinate efforts to provide appropriate musical renditions for Christmas/Easter presentations, and other special worship services. Meet with the Drama Team when drama presentations are being planned.
Coordinate the church music program with the church calendar and with emphasis on preparing respective choirs for annual day/month (i.e., Choir Month, Women's Month, Men's Month, Youth Month, etc.).
Oversee the care and maintenance of the music library, materials, supplies, musical instruments, and other equipment useful in the music ministry, and make r_noemailmendatio
