Job Description:

Colossians 1:28 provides the impetus for our development of ministers: "Him we proclaim! Warning everyone and teaching everyone with wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ."

A Ministry Leader may be paid or a volunteer who operates with a conviction for the ministry objectives of the church. They demonstrate health in the following areas by:

Community – Stewarding the church resources by creating and operating within departmental budgets. Recommending changes and improvements.

Spiritual – Maturity is expressed by mentoring others and the ability to explain parts of the Bible. They are an active member of a small group and suggest others to step in to lead.

Personal – Actively seeking ways to improve the well-being of themselves and others. Promoting healthy activity and relationships.

Emotional/Mental – Coaching others in developing life/work/ministry balance. Expressing a Sabbath lifestyle.

Organizational – Proactively sets and accomplishes all key leader goals. They create a development pathway for departmental volunteers, staff, and interns. Influencing, recruiting, encouraging, and equipping emerging leaders within their department. They coordinate with all ministry leaders to accomplish church objectives.


The key responsibilities and duties in the Youth Pastor's position description include:
-Oversee youth service. Make sure services are creative, fun, engaging and point to Christ.
-Set up hospitality ministry with data base of students and parents. Also create a follow up system.
-Start small groups for training, relationship, and discipleship.
-Attend events such as Ignite, Fuel and Summer Camp. Have monthly events for the students.
-Create yearly budget by September. Should include all fundraising and money needed from the church budget.
-Develop a student leadership team.
-Have at least quarterly outreach events and have a presence on local campuses.
-Make sure our students are covered relationally by an adult on your team. Adults should contact the students weekly.
-Have monthly events for students.
-Oversee the adult youth staff with regular set meeting for coordination.
-Ensure snow is removed prior to service on Sunday mornings. (This is a team activity of which you are one of the team members.)
-Sunday service coordination, which includes CCLI reporting.
-Keep record of attendance numbers.
-Help with memorial services.
-Unlock the doors on Sunday mornings.
-Participate in worship practice.
-Attend weekly service planning meetings and staff meetings.


Expectations:
-The youth pastor is to directly report to Pastor Isaac on the executive team.
-Since this is such a high profile ministry it is expected that the youth pastor lives above reproach and holds minister's ethics and guidelines. He/she should tithe faithfully.
-Be spiritually sharp and prepared.
-Build relationship with your team, kids, and families.
-Bless your team. Encourage them and honor them. Make their work easier.
-Serve when you are needed. Be a helping hand and love on your team.
-Always put people, safety, and values ahead of the program. We always want love to be communicated when dealing with students and parents.
-If conflict or an issue arises with a student, parent or leader, directly talk with that person. If the issue is not resolved bring the issue to Pastor Isaac on the executive team.
-Be at least a half an hour early at all youth events and services.
-Please be at as many youth service, events and activities as possible.
-Email Monthly events 2 months in advance in bullet point format.
-Email weekly update on students the youth pastor met with.

Compensation:
-Salaried Position: $32,000-37,000.
-One week vacation during the first year. Two weeks vacation following the first anniversary of hire date.

 

Job Qualifications:

o Two years of youth ministry experience.
o Four year bachelor's degree. Preferred.
o Some theological training.
o Previously led teams.
o Ability to develop and maintain systems.
