Job Description:

This position is full-time for up to 3 years, with further employment dependent upon funding. The Campus Pastor is a member of the Fish Interfaith Center staff, reporting to the Dean of the Chapel, and will work with Christian students on campus. They will bring passion and ability to deploy next generation worship events and ministry experiences. They will be responsible to create programming for students, including but not limited to worship with music and digital elements for students today, small groups, and service opportunities. The person in this position will network with campus and community partners and students. They will be responsible for recruiting students and marketing to reach students across campus. The person is a member of the Fish Interfaith Center staff, working cooperatively with the staff to serve the needs of the campus and student needs not presently met by current staff. Together, the Fish Interfaith staff serves the needs of the campus in times of national or international tragedy. The Fish Interfaith Center fosters respectful interfaith understanding as each staff member is grounded in their respective faith conviction and beliefs, and at the same time value and respect one another.

Responsibilities:
Programming for Christian students—Determine needs and create a plan for serving Christian students. Recruit, hire, and oversee music team as needed with concurrence of supervisor. Build, grow, and maintain small groups and worship as appropriate. Develop student leadership. Gather pertinent data to develop projections. Create processes for faculty, staff, and student involvement. Prepare publicity materials; maintain social media sites; coordinate with Strategic Marketing & Communications office. Record keeping of student involvement. Develop and lead student weekly programming. Liaison with existing campus Christian groups, such as CRU and Intervarsity. 


Interfaith Center staff —Along with the Fish Interfaith Center staff, represent the spiritual pillar of Chapman University. Attend Fish Interfaith Center staff meetings. Collaborate with support staff to plan programming and events. Have experience and training, or enroll to gain skills of pastoral care to offer basic assistance and referrals services for any student with mental health concerns.

Job Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Training in theology and worship. Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of previous ministry experience and service (preferably with college age students). Openness to working in an interfaith setting. Sensitivity to work with diverse individuals and groups. Possess skills in the area of office and project management. Strong ability to interact with diverse groups and individuals both inside and outside the university. Strong, healthy boundaries in working with students. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Doc, Excel, PPT, Outlook Mail, Publisher & Teams). Proficient in web and social media. Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Strong commitment to service and teamwork. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Desired Qualifications: M.Div. degree or equivalent highly recommended. Training in counseling or pastoral care. Experience working with students in an academic or religious setting.
